It’s another new year and everyone is making their resolutions for 2014. And with being healthy and losing weight being one of the top goals, many people will try to adopt a new workout regime and diet plan. Not only do these fake sweeteners – which have a much stronger flavor – make it more difficult for the body to taste naturally sweet foods, but they can trigger the production of insulin which sends the body into fat storage mode and causes weight gain. Researchers from the University of Texas have found that diet soda drinkers had a 70% increase in waist size compared with non-drinkers.
DIET SODA CAN CAUSE TYPE-2 DIABETES
Drinking just one diet beverage per day has been associated with a 36% increased risk of metabolic syndrome – including high blood pressure, elevated glucose levels, raised cholesterol and weight gain, according to a University of Minnesota study, which can lead to heart attack, stoke and diabetes.

Studies have shown that aspartme, an artificial sweetener, can cause headaches in drinkers of diet sodas. Switching to water can reduce these instances, and is just better for you.
